Edward has joined local Councillor Elaine Holmes, the President of Melton Young Farmers Club, Melton Mowbray Young Farmers Club members past and present, and other guests at a fantastic dinner to celebrate the 90th anniversary of this important local institution that plays such an important role in our local rural life.
As well as enjoying a first-class dinner made with much local produce, guests heard speeches from the leaders of our local Young Farmers Club who'd organised the evening, as awards were presented, and the 90 years of the Club were celebrated, raising a significant amount for charity.
Edward said: "Melton Mowbray Young Farmers Club is a hugely important part of rural community life locally, and it was a huge privilege to share in the celebration of its 90th birthday, to recognise the achievements of many of its members, and also to recognise the great service and support Elaine Holmes has given the Club over many years. Speaking to current members and those who were long-standing members, and seeing their dedication, their determination, and their talent, as I said after the Leicestershire & Rutland Young Farmers Club Rally, I am confident our farming future is in safe hands, but they need our continued support, which is why I wanted to show my complete support for our next generation of farmers, and the fantastic Melton Mowbray Young Farmers Club."
