Edward has joined local MBC Councillor, David Chubb, in a visit to Buckminster Cricket Club's ground and pavilion in the village.
At the Club they met with Tim and Andy from the Club Committee to discuss the state of the pavilion/ changing rooms and the need to repair and renovate the buildings, and to invest in improved facilities, and the fundraising that will be needed to achieve this, as well as the value and popularity of village cricket clubs, and the strong sense of community they help provide.
Edward said: " It was a real pleasure to meet Andy and Tim, with David, at the Club's ground in Buckminster. As a cricket fan I fully appreciate the huge value that local village cricket clubs like Buckminster CC bring to our communities, and to the sport, but they rely upon volunteers to run them, and to raise the funds to maintain and improve facilities like grounds, pavilions, and kit. While it may be too long since I picked up a cricket bat for me to play in a match with Buckminster CC, as Buckminster's local MP I will certainly be joining David in 'batting for Buckminster', supporting them in their fundraising efforts to raise the money needed to repair the pavilion, and to invest in the ground, to help enable people of all generations to continue to enjoy village cricket in Buckminster.
Tim, Andy and the volunteers do an amazing job for the community in what they do for the Club, and I would encourage anyone who wants to get involved in supporting what is a great cause in Buckminster CC's fundraising efforts, to get in touch with the Club."
